Update: Fiber provider says they are back up and running at full speed!

We are very sad to say that our fiber provider is having issues again. They are working to resolve the slow speeds and packet loss we're experiencing in Wells, Elko and surrounding areas.

Update 11/12/24 8:00am: Internet should be back up!

WCIP users served through fiber from the Wells area are experiencing an outage starting last night and continuing into this morning. Our fiber provider was surprised by their provider with an unscheduled maintenance outage. They are not sure of an ETA but the published maintenance window has passed so hopefully it won't be too much longer.

service outage affecting wells, and elko regions. upstream provider is out since last night at 8. maintenance in their system that ended up being service impacting. no etr yet. I will update as I have more information

Fiber into elko county is down again this morning since about 2AM. Fiber carrier has crews out to repair.

Update: service is restored across the system.

Outage Update: We are currently experiencing a fiber outage into Wells. All WCIP users fed from the fiber out of Wells are down. The fiber provider is working to locate and repair the problem but they currently do not have an estimated time of restoral.

An outage is scheduled to occur on Oct 30, 2024 11:30 PM.
Services are scheduled to be restored on Oct 31, 2024 4:00 AM.

South wells solar site batteries upgraded Saturday. We are ready for winter!

12:57 Update: We are online again now. hopefully they are done and it stays on this time.

Update:12:18PM dropped out again. Fiber carrier still. affecting all of utah and nevada. they said 4 hour repair window.

Update: Service has been restored 9:20AM

There is an outage with the fiber carrier this morning Affecting wells and elko. they said it is not a fiber cut so shouldn't be too long.

Update 10:33: looks like we are back online now.

There is a fiber outage with the fiber carrier this morning. Affecting wells and elko service. Last they have said is we should be coming back online soon.

UPDATE 3/11 8:15pm: Service should be restored to all users. You may need to reboot your router to reestablish a connection. If you still don't have service after rebooting your router, please let us know.

UPDATE 3/11 3:05PM: Some users are starting to come up now. Please ensure your radios are powered up so that we can access those that will need to be reprogrammed for a different access point. We hope to have everyone up by the end of the day.

UPDATE 3/11 9:25am: With the extent of the damage, we can only assume there was a nearly direct lightning strike. Spencer is working to replace every piece of equipment and all of the wiring as quickly as possible but it also appears that our electrical panel will need some repairs. We are working with an electrician and will keep you posted as we learn more.

We are experiencing a system outage. The equipment on our main tower shorted out and caught fire this morning. Spencer is up working on it but it will likely be down for hopefully just a day while we rewire and hang new equipment.

Finished some work on the south hill tower in wells yesterday. It was nice to have a break in the storms this winter so I could get up to the site.
