❗6/11 CONSTRUCTION UPDATE❗

Crews are continuing work in Downtown Wellington as part of the Cleveland Avenue Construction Project.

WORK HAPPENING THIS WEEK

Coulson Excavating crews are working this week to complete utility work on 3rd and 5th Streets as part of Phase 0 of the Cleveland Avenue Construction Project. This work required:

• The temporary closure of the 3rd Street intersection with Cleveland Avenue
• A partial closure of the 5th Street/Cleveland Avenue intersection

PHASE 1 STARTS NEXT WEEK

Phase 1 work on Cleveland Avenue is scheduled to start this coming Monday, June 15, on the south side of the roadway. This work requires a new traffic pattern between West 1st Street and 6th Street in Downtown Wellington.

NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN

During this phase:

• One lane of traffic in each direction will remain open
• Traffic will shift to the far north side of Cleveland Avenue
• Construction will take place in the middle and south sides of the roadway

The following Cleveland Avenue intersections will be closed during construction:

• 2nd Street
• 4th Street
• 5th Street

The following intersections will remain mostly open:

• 1st Street
• 3rd Street

Any changes to this traffic plan will be shared as soon as they are available.

SUGGESTED DETOURS

Drivers can avoid the construction zone by using:

• 6th Street for north/south travel
• Harrison Avenue for east/west travel
• Roosevelt Avenue for east/west travel

PARKING DOWNTOWN

The new traffic pattern means parking will not be available on Cleveland Avenue in Downtown Wellington until the end of the project.

Public parking is available in the lots:

• Between Soul Squared Brewing (3740 W. Cleveland Ave.) and Rose & Co. (3734 W. Cleveland Ave.)
• Between the Larimer County Sheriff's Office (3735 W. Cleveland Ave.) and North Poudre Irrigation (3729 W. Cleveland Ave.)

Additional parking can be found on side streets north of the north-side alley and south of the south-side alley. Drivers should park at least 20 feet from any intersection to help maintain safe conditions for other drivers.

WHAT’S NEXT

Crews will spend about a week removing vegetation from the south side of Cleveland Avenue. Asphalt removal is slated to start the week of June 22.

5TH STREET WORK

Crews will also begin Phase 1 work on 5th Street. This work includes:

• Installation of new storm drainage infrastructure
• Streetscape improvements between Cleveland Avenue and Kennedy Avenue

While the 5th Street and Cleveland Avenue intersection will be closed during Phase 1, 5th Street will remain open to local traffic between that closure and Kennedy Avenue.

CONSTRUCTION ZONE REMINDER

The only people allowed inside construction zones for this project are those authorized to be there by Coulson Excavating. Work zones can be identified by the presence of any of the following:

• “Road Closed” signs
• “Sidewalk Closed” signs
• Orange construction cones
• Orange construction barrels
• Construction workers
• Construction materials
• Construction equipment

Residents and visitors are reminded to stay out of construction zones when moving around Downtown Wellington and to follow all instructions given by traffic control workers. This includes e-bike and e-scooter riders.

STAY UPDATED

Any major schedule changes will be shared with the public as soon as they are available. The latest information about the project is always available at WellingtonColorado.gov/608/Cleveland-Ave-Construction-Project and in the public Facebook group Cleveland Ave. Construction Updates. ❗We heard you. Now help us prioritize❗

Over the past several months, Wellington residents shared transportation challenges, safety concerns, and ideas for improving how we move around town. That feedback helped shape the draft vision and goals for Wellington's first Transportation & Mobility Plan.

Now we're asking the community to help identify what transportation improvements should be prioritized in the future.

Review the draft vision and goals, weigh transportation investment options, and help shape future priorities for Wellington.

Join us at this week’s Main Street Market:
🗓 4:30–7:30 p.m. June 12
📍Centennial Park
