April calls of note:
4/9/2026 1500 hrs. W. CR 7/ CR 19. Outside Fire: Brush 913, Brush 92, Tender 92 and Chief 90 responded to a fire involving several large bales of corn husks. A quick knockdown by first arriving units kept the fire contained to the bales, preventing spread to adjacent grasslands. The cause of the fire was likely
due to contact with a truck exhaust. Units were on scene for over an hour overhauling the fire.
4/11/2026 1131 hrs., N. HWY 1 at CR 11. MVA with Extrication: Engine 91 responded as closest unit to a
reported MVA within PFA’s district. Arriving first on scene to a 3-car head-on collision, E91 conducted a size
up, triaged and established command prior to the arrival of PFA TWR 1, Rescue 4, Engine 12 and BC 1. E91
assisted in extrication and patient care. One patient was flown to MCR by Lifeline 1 helicopter and 2 other
seriously injured patients were transported by UCHealth ambulances to area hospitals.
4/15/2026 0524 hrs. I-25 @ mm 276, MVA involving Commercial Vehicles: Engines 91 and 92, Chief 90
and PFA Engine 6 responded to a report of a semi off the road and on fire. Upon arrival, E91 reported that a
northbound semi had struck a parked semi tanker hauling pesticide in the NB lane. One truck was in the
median, approximately ¼ mile north of the other. The truck in the median had lost its diesel saddle tank,
which was leaking and on fire in the median, causing a grass fire. E91 and E92 confirmed the driver was not
injured and extinguished the fire. Chief 90 and PFA E6 sized up the other truck and confirmed there were no
injuries, hazards or leaks in the tanker trailer. CDOT and Colorado State Patrol eventually took control of the
scene for cleanup and truck removal.
4/20/2026 1501 hrs., E. CR 64 near the Larimer/Weld border, Wildland Fire: Brush 913, Brush 92,
Tender 91, Tender 92 and Chief 90 responded mutual aid for wildland fire with structures threatened.
Arriving first on scene, Chief 90 and Brush 913 encountered a 10-acre fire in thick flashy fuels moving rapidly
to the ESE with sustained winds. BR913 began attacking the head of the fire before being re-assigned to
structure protection. BR92, PFA Brush 7 and 12, Battalion 1, Larimer County Emergency Services, Nunn
Fire, and US Forest Service soon arrived to assist with containment and extinguishment. The fire eventually
consumed 70 acres. One small storage shed was lost to the fire, but both homes were saved. The scene
was turned over to Nunn Fire for cold trailing and investigation.
