While on summer vacation in Liège, Belgium, they visited the local library and picked out books recommended by their cousin, who works there as a children’s librarian. 🇧🇪✨

What a fun way to explore a new place, connect with family, and discover new stories from around the world!

💡 National Finalists! Congratulations to Daniella and Joseph for representing Panther Run Elementary on the national stage at the National Invention Convention in Michigan! Your creativity, hard work, and innovation continue to inspire us all! 🚀🐾✨

What started in Mrs. Small’s 5th Grade Gifted Classroom has grown into an incredible opportunity for PRE student inventors.

As part of a reading and social studies unit on the Industrial Revolution, students learn about historic inventions while experiencing the invention process firsthand. Over the course of two months, students identify real-world problems, research existing solutions, develop original ideas, create inventor logbooks, build prototypes, design display boards, and pitch their inventions to judges and classmates.

After Mrs. Small shared Panther Run’s first Classroom Invention Convention on social media, the outstanding work of her students caught the attention of the Florida Invention Convention at USF. That connection opened the door for Panther Run students to compete at the state level.

This year marked the second year Panther Run students participated in the Florida Invention Convention, and once again, our young inventors advanced all the way to the National Invention Convention!

A special congratulations to Daniella and Joseph, who competed against some of the nation’s most talented young inventors and were recognized as National Finalists.

Daniella also earned the prestigious Top Display Board Award, receiving recognition for the best display board at the entire National Invention Convention competition.

The impact of this project is only continuing to grow. Mrs. Small will be launching a new Panther Run Invention Convention Club next school year, giving students across multiple grade levels the opportunity to develop their ideas, compete in a school-wide invention convention, and potentially advance to the Florida Invention Convention and beyond.

We are incredibly proud of Daniella, Joseph, Mrs. Small, and all of the young inventors who have helped turn a classroom project into a nationally recognized program. 💡
