Mcdowell County Solid Waste Authority The MCSWA is an environmental organization dedicated to creating a clean, green environment. Wendell Hatfield is the Litter Control Officer.

The McDowell County Solid Waste Authority is governed by a 5-member, appointed board, with each member serving a 4-year term . Current board members include: Chairman Randall Patton, Chris Riffe, Mike Snow, Danny Thornsbury and Mike Brooks. Riffe replaced the late Gary Dove, Sr., one of SWA's most outstanding volunteers.
