09/11/2026

Yesterday morning,Squad 12 responded to the Welaka boat ramp to a vehicle in the water. Squad 12 found a pickup truck a with boat trailer attached completely submerged. The passenger self evacuated and no injuries were reported. The truck and trailer were recovered by a private towing company.

Yesterday afternoon Tanker and Woods 12 responded with station 9, 23 and district 73 to a woods fire in Georgetown. Tanker 12 supplied water and Woods 12 assisted with fire suppression. No injuries were reported.

08/13/2026

Last night at 7:30 squad and Tanker 12 responded with Engines 23,9,11,3 Rescues 3,23 Tanker9 and District 73 ES 02,04,05. To a mobile home and vehicle fire in Pomona Park off of Magnolia street.
District 73 arrived to find the mobile home and vehicle were fully involved with multiple exposures. Engines 3 and 9 initiated attack with multiple lines. Tanker 12 was first water supply at scene and supplied water to the engines while setting up their dump tank to start a tanker shuttle with tanker 9.
We had four of Station 12’s personnel on scene to assist with all operations. No injuries were reported and the exposures were undamaged.

This afternoon Squad 12 responded to a lawnmower on fire on Front street in Welaka. Upon arrival the mower was fully involved with no exposures. Squad 12 extinguished the fire and no injuries were reported.

07/05/2026

We had a very busy 4th. First, Squad and Tanker 12 responded with Stations 9,23,6 and 11 to a commercial structure fire at the Ace Hardware store in Fruitland. The fire was caused by a lightning strike and caused significant damage to the ceiling. Tanker 12 supplied water and Squad 12 assisted with the fire attack. While continuing to work that fire Squad 12 was released to respond to a brush fire on Hwy 17 near Paradise Shores. The fire was deep in the woods and was contained after stretching an extremely long hose to access the fire.
At 9:45 we were dispatched to a brush fire with Engine 23 on Old Shell Harbor rd. Engine 23 cancelled the Tanker before it left the station but at that time a structure fire was dispatched in Saratoga Harbor on Lakeview Dr. The fire was in a basement of a log home. This is unusual for Florida and causes a unique situation as fire can be below the firefighters as well as around and above. The fire was contained to the basement after a quick knock down by Engine 23. Tanker 12 deployed our dump tank and provided water to Engine 23. The family pet dog was rescued and revived with oxygen. Unfortunately, the two cats found in the home could not be saved. Throughout the day we had 5 of our members respond to these calls.

Yesterday afternoon Tanker 12 responded with station 9 District 73 and forestry to a woods fire on Fern lane the fire was brought under control within two hours.
Then at 8:30 last night Squad and Tanker 12 responded with station 9,3 District 73 and forestry to a woods fire off Clear Lake. Upon arrival we found a two story structure in a heavily wooded area endangered with the building’s dock and kennel already engulfed. We spent four hours protecting the structure and containing the spread.

Yesterday morning at 9:30 ENGINE 12 and Engine 23 responded to a power one down and fire at 4th and Orange street in Welaka. Engine 12 arrived and found a boat being towed down 309 had hit and pulled the power lines down resulting in fire on the power poles, lines and ground. With the help of Engine 23 and Welaka PD we secured the areas affected and called FPL to secure the power. After about 20 minutes FPL cut power to the line and the fires were extinguished.

05/26/2026

Yesterday afternoon and evening were quite busy. Woods, and Tanker 12 responded with stations 9 and 3 and forestry to a woods fire in Georgetown. The fire was fast moving in a heavily wooded area off Jumping Gully the fire was contained after a few hours. Shortly after that fire was dispatched another fire in Georgetown was reported on Meadow drive. Squad 12 and Engine 23 contained and extinguished this fire around 6pm. At 8 pm another brush fire was reported on highway 100 in San Mateo and Woods 12 responded with Engine 6,23 District 73 and forestry. That fire was contained at 10 pm.

This afternoon Tanker 12 responded with Engines 23, 6 and District 73 to a camper fire in Satsuma. Engine 23 arrived to a camper with fire showing from the roof. Engine 23 made an aggressive attack and knocked down the fire quickly. Tanker 12 supplied water to Engine 23. Engine 6 assisted with extinguishing the fire. No injuries were reported.

This afternoon Squad, Tanker And Woods 12 responded with stations 9, 23, 3 and District 73 to a brush fire in Georgetown. The fire was threatening structures and a piece of heavy equipment. With a quick response and aggressive attack the exposures were not damaged and the fire was extinguished after a few hours. Forestry cut a line around the fire and will be monitoring it for the next few days.
Please continue to adhere to the burn ban that is still in effect.
