Weirton Board of Parks and Recreation Easter Bunny Drive Through Scheduled for Saturday, April 3rd.

Join Weirton Board of Parks and Recreation and Weirton Millsop Community Center (WMCC) for a Easter Bunny Drive Through on Saturday, April 3rd.

The event is open to area children ages Toddler up to 10 years-old and will take place near the main entrance to Edwin J. Bowman Baseball Field, located behind WMCC.

Pre-packaged bags of candy filled Easter eggs will be distributed to children by the Easter Bunny. To adhere to COVID-19 guidelines, children must remain in vehicle while eggs are being distributed.

3 time slots are available with limited space in each slot

10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Everyone must pre-register to participate and space is limited.

The Easter Bunny Drive Through is a free event and is sponsored by Hancock County Savings Bank, Weirton McDonald’s, and Weirton Dairy Queen.

WEIRTON MILLSOP COMMUNITY CENTER YOUTH SPORTS LEAGUES REGISTRATION EXTENDED THROUGH WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 10th

Registration has been extended for the Winter/Spring sports leagues at the Weirton Millsop Community Center. The two sports being offered are the Indoor Flag Football and Middle School Basketball.

Indoor Flag Football is open to all area youngsters Pre-School through 6th grade. This league will be broken down into two age groups.

Middle School Basketball is open to all area youngsters in 5th through 8th grade.

The season for both leagues will tentatively begin in early March and run through early to mid-April. Games will be played up to two evenings per week as well on some Saturday mornings/afternoons.

COVID-19 Guidelines and safety measures will be followed and all league participants will be required to have their parents/guardians fill out a COVID-19 waiver.

The cost is $55 per player/per league. Discounts are available to those whose parents/guardians coach as well as to families with multiple children participating.

Free league entry for low-to-moderate income families living in Weirton though Community Development Block Grant Funding.

WEIRTON MILLSOP COMMUNITY CENTER YOUTH SPORTS LEAGUES REGISTRATION UNDERWAY NOW THROUGH MONDAY, FEBRUARY 1st.

Registration is underway for the Winter/Spring sports leagues at the Weirton Millsop Community Center. The two sports being offered are the Indoor Flag Football and Middle School Basketball.

Due to the threat of significant snowfall for Wednesday, the 18th Annual Bulletin Board Auction at the Weirton Millsop Community Center (WMCC) will be extended by a day.

Paper bidding will continue through normal business hours Wednesday at the customer service desk at WMCC and will wrap up with live bidding Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. in the gymnasium at WMCC.

WMCC is open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

Those who have already placed a bid on an item will receive a phone call updating the status of the auction.

Stop in the Weirton Millsop Community Center (WMCC) to check out all of the items up for bid on the 18th Annual Christmas Bulletin Board Benefit Auction! This year, over 120 items from area businesses are up for bid. Participants may bid on items from now through 6 P.M. on Wednesday December 16. Then, on Wednesday December 16, from 6 P. M TO 7 P.M. the auction becomes “LIVE” at WMCC. Some of the items up for bid this year include Gift Certificates from area restaurants, Oil Changes, Steelers Custom Fine Art Prints, Bath and Body Works Gift Set, Car Wash Buckets, $100 Visa Gift Card, 2021 Golf Pass, Overnight stays at area hotels, and much more. Thank you to all the area business that support this cause. Also, a special thanks to Starvaggi Charities for their donation which enabled the purchasing of additional gift cards for the auction board. It’s not too late to register for the Indoor Soccer League at the Weirton Millsop Community Center (WMCC). The league is open to all area children Pre-School through 6th grade.

The cost is $50 per player. Community Development Block Funding is available for league entry fees for low-to-moderate income families who reside in the City of Weirton.

You can register at WMCC through Wednesday, October 21st and play will begin in November.

Coaches are needed!

To ensure the safety of all players, coaches, officials, and spectators COVID-19 Guidelines will be followed along with other safety measures, including a limited number of spectators at games.

Registration EXTENDED for the fall sports season at the Weirton Millsop Community Center. Two sports will be featured in the months of October and November, which include Outdoor Flag Football and Indoor Soccer.

The Outdoor Flag Football League will tentatively begin in October with games being played on one weeknight per week as well as Saturday mornings through late November. The program is open to all area youngsters in pre-school (4 years old and up) through sixth grade. There will be two divisions of play: Pre K through 2nd grade and 3rd grade through 6th grade. Games will be played on the Edwin J. Bowman Field, located directly behind the Weirton Millsop Community Center.

The Indoor Soccer League will begin play in early November and run through early December. Games will be played one evening per week as well as on Saturday's. This program is open to all area youngsters in Pre-School through 6th grade and will also be broken down into two age divisions.

The cost of both leagues is $50 per player, per league. Discounts are a available for multiple family members playing or for children whose parents or guardians coach.

REGISTRATION UNDERWAY FOR THE ANNUAL MARLAND HEIGHTS 5K CLASSIC, FITNESS WALK AND KIDS FUN RUN

Registration is underway for the Annual Marland Heights 5K Classic Run and Fitness walk.

The event, which will begin and end at Marland Heights Park will be held on Friday, August 14 at 7 p.m.

The evening will include a 3.1 mile run, a 2 mile fitness walk, and a youth fun run for kids 12 and under. The youth fun run will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Several precautions are planned and COVID-19 Guidelines will be followed to help ensure safety for race participants and volunteers.

Among those plans are a staggered start, with racers separated into groups of 25. The event also would make use multiple areas at Marland Heights Park to encourage social distancing. Racers would be provided with pre-wrapped sandwiches and fruit instead of the traditional post-race cookout.

Those placing in the top spots of their division also would be encouraged to pick up their awards at a later time, instead of receiving them the night of the race.

Participants will be required to wear a mask prior to the race and during the registration process.

Early registration cost is $20 for adults, $15 for teens and youths, and $2 for the youth fun run.

Those wishing to register can do so at the Weirton Millsop Community Center through Thursday, August 13. Race day registration will begin at 6 p.m.

Water will be provided at the start/finish line as well as along the visibly marked race course.

Race timing will be provided by Second Sole out of Youngstown, Ohio.
