The Webster Groves Fire Department has a dedicated Water Rescue Team for static and swift-water emergencies, such as flash flood events along Deer Creek.

Utilizing the water park at the Benny Gordon Recreation Center, the team was able to practice critical skills in full gear.

Captain Travis Mueller says firefighters are state certified in boat rescue and water rescue tech.

The Webster Groves Fire Department is joining mutual aid partners for a live exercise at the Central Core Training Center.

Instructors simulate a garden-style apartment fire with an extension into the attic. A ladder truck is used to cut a vent hole in the roof of the building.

Firefighters rescue three victims, including one person who is suspended from a second-floor window.

Chief John Bradley says the joint training builds operational familiarity and ensures seamless communication between the different agencies.

In addition to Webster Groves, firefighters participated from Shrewsbury, Clayton, Maplewood, Richmond Heights, and Brentwood.

Firefighters from Webster Groves, Brentwood, and Richmond Heights participate in a training exercise at St. Mary’s Hospital.

In the simulated medical emergency, a victim becomes trapped under heavy machinery on the roof.

Firefighters use the “Jaws of Life” to free the person and render aid. The patient is then lowered to safety using a ladder truck, rigging and a stokes basket.

The exercise is part of the Central Core Medic Unit monthly training with support from WashU Medicine.

Firefighters provide high-level emergency care, offering Advanced Life Support (ALS) with access to a field physician for additional medical direction and response.

“A” Crew Battalion Chief Tom Viviano provides this update from the Webster Groves Fire Department.

Parking on the street? Please be mindful of the "bottleneck" effect!

When vehicles are parked on both sides of a street, plows may be unable to clear the full width of the road.

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩:
• If possible, move cars into the driveway.
• Avoid "double-parking" across the street.
• Give the plows plenty of room to operate.

As a reminder, the City provides an interactive dashboard that shows the real-time location of snowplows and the status of road clearing in Webster Groves.

Hello on this wonderful winter day! As our folks are on the roads running calls and the public works plows are out trying to keep our streets clear we ask that if you do not have to travel please don’t! Also if you can park in your driveway please do as it allows the plows a better chance to truly clear the whole street and allows our emergency vehicles clearer safer access to all areas in a timely manner! Thank so much Webster Groves for being the best! Stay safe ya’ll!
