Supporting Our Blue Envelope Program

A heartfelt thank you to The Synapsory for their generous donation of sensory bags to support our Police Department’s Blue Envelope Program!

The Blue Envelope Program is designed to help facilitate safer, more understanding, and more effective interactions between law enforcement officers and individuals with autism or other communication and sensory needs. The blue envelope provides important information that can help officers better understand an individual’s needs and how to communicate with them during an interaction.

The addition of these sensory bags is another valuable resource for our officers. Having sensory tools available can help reduce anxiety and provide comfort during what may otherwise be an overwhelming or stressful situation.

We are incredibly grateful to The Synapsory for supporting the mission of our Blue Envelope Program and helping us continue to build a community where everyone is treated with understanding, dignity, and compassion.

Thank you, The Synapsory, for partnering with us and helping make a difference!

This week, Webster Groves resident Sean graciously donated a new Concept2 rower to the Webster Groves Police Officers Association!

Sean recently saw a post on our social media page highlighting the department’s Peer Support/Wellness Unit and reached out to see if we could put a rowing machine to use. After learning that our department has an on-site gym for our officers, along with our continued focus on officer wellness and potential plans to incorporate rowing into our mandated fitness testing, Sean was excited to know that his donation would directly support our officers.

This donation was a great collaboration between Sean, the Webster Groves Police Officers Association, and the Webster Groves Police Department, with the goal of supporting the health and wellness of our officers.

Thank you, Sean, for your generosity and your support of our officers! We truly appreciate your donation and will be sure to put it to good use!

Big Bend is reduced to one northbound and one southbound lane while construction begins on the replacement spans. Work will continue into the winter months.

This project is located just north of Webster Groves in the City of Maplewood. Project updates are being shared at stlouiscountymo.gov.

At the Webster Groves Police Department, officers have opportunities to develop specialized skills and serve the community in unique ways.

One example is our Drone Unit. Detective Julian Rivera obtained his remote pilot certificate from the FAA to support police field operations.

With a decade of law enforcement experience, Rivera is now using technology from above to assist with public safety.

Webster Groves has two drones equipped with high-definition cameras and thermal imaging to provide aerial support during an active call.

The Police Department is actively hiring if you know of someone in the field or a student currently attending a Missouri-certified Police Academy.

St. Louis County is preparing to replace two bridges over Big Bend Boulevard, just north of Webster Groves in Maplewood at Greenwood Boulevard and Pacific Avenue.

A full closure of Big Bend is planned for this weekend to allow for the demolition of the existing bridges on either side of the Union Pacific rail line.

Work will begin around 10 p.m. on Friday, August 28 with the roadway scheduled to reopen by 5 a.m. on Monday, August 31.

Drivers are encouraged to use Laclede Station Road and Hanley Road as alternate routes.

A new school year is here!

As students, families, and educators head back to class, we’re excited to introduce our School Resource Officers (SROs) – Fred Bell and Mike McAuliffe.

In this video, they share a little about their roles and how they’ll help support safe, welcoming schools throughout the year.

A few reminders as classes get underway:
🚸 Slow down and watch for students in school zones and crosswalks.
🚌 Give school buses plenty of room. Never pass a stopped bus with red lights flashing.
📵 Stay focused behind the wheel and put the phone away.
🚗 Please be patient around school drop-off and pick-up areas.

Our officers are looking forward to being a familiar, positive presence in our schools.
