Chief Hunter joined approximately 20 other Fire Service Professionals from Buncombe County for legislative day in Raleigh. They met and spoke with several area Senators and Representatives about many fire and emegency service legislative issues. These included retirement, cancer benefits, Helene recovery funding, and several challanges concerning the future of North Carolinas fire service. Thank you to Rep. Turner, Rep. Ager, Rep. Prather, Sen. Daniel, and Sen. Corbin for taking time to hear our concerns.

From Fire Chief Harris:
I want to take a minute to bring attention to the amazing quick action by the occupants at a residential house fire dispatch today. I had the opportunity to present them with a Chief Harris coin of excellence for outstanding performance. The quick action and preparedness of knowing how to use a fire extinguisher and get residents out saved the home from significant damage and injuries. These pictures are posted with consent from the occupants. Just as in medical calls where we teach that bystander CPR quick action can save a life, same with quick action of using a fire extinguisher can change the outcome. We offer free fire extinguisher 🧯 training to the community and are happy to attend any business or home owner association meeting and work with your teams for training.
