Operation Road Safe is happening today! 🚨

We don’t want to give you a ticket. We’re not trying to ruin your day. Really. It’s not our favorite thing to do.

But we do want to make our roads safer here in Weatherford.

So consider this your friendly heads-up: we’ll have extra officers out today looking for unsafe driving.

Our goal is simple. We want everyone to make it home safely.

Most crashes in Weatherford are caused by speeding, driver inattention, and unsafe lane changes. Help us out by slowing down, keeping your eyes on the road instead of your phone, and giving the people around you a little extra room.

You do your part, and we’ll keep an eye out for the folks who… need a little extra encouragement.

Today, we want to give a great big THANK YOU to everyone who gets up each day and puts in the work to provide for themselves and their families. Whether you’re working hard or hardly working, we appreciate you!

If you’re lucky enough to have the day off, enjoy it. Sleep in, fire up the grill, put your feet up, and know that your hard work is appreciated.

And to those of you who still have to clock in today (or who never really get to clock out with kiddos at home)...we feel you! Our offices may be closed, but our officers are still out patrolling and working right alongside you.

Calls like this can become dangerous very quickly. That’s why our officers continuously train to communicate, coordinate and respond as a team. In situations like this, your safety is our priority. We’re proud of the way these officers worked together to quickly bring this situation under control.

While I20 and the Courthouse are still by far our most common location for accidents, we are seeing a growing trend of accidents happening in a few more areas recently.

Please take extra caution around these intersections:
>>Ric Williamson Highway and Mineral Wells Highway
>>Main Street and Park Avenue (by Walgreens)
>>Santa Fe Drive and Eureka Street

The good news is that a little extra awareness can go a long way. Slowing down, putting the phone away, leaving some space between you and the car ahead, and taking that extra second to make sure an intersection is clear can make a big difference.

Most of you are already doing exactly that every day, and we appreciate it! 💙 Consider this just a friendly heads-up about a few spots where we can all be a little more intentional.

We just want everyone to make it where they’re going safely.

We’ve seen far too many of our seniors lose hundreds of thousands of dollars to scammers recently. And unfortunately, once that money is sent, it can be extremely difficult, or even impossible, to recover.

The good news? A few simple steps can make a big difference:

PAUSE
Don’t let anyone rush you. It is absolutely okay to be “impolite,” end the conversation, or simply hang up the phone.

CHECK
Before sending money, call someone you trust. A family member, your bank, or even we can help you take a second look at the situation.

PROTECT
Never send money just because someone tells you there is an emergency. A real emergency can survive a few extra minutes while you stop and verify what is happening.

Talk to the seniors in your life. Remind your parents, grandparents, neighbors, and friends that scammers can be incredibly convincing, and there is never any shame in asking someone else, “Does this sound right to you?”

Sometimes the best protection we can give each other is simply being that second set of eyes.

Scammers are convincing. Looking out for each other is stronger. 💙
