SWOSU campuses will be closed Monday, Sept. 7, in observance of Labor Day. Classes and regular campus operations will resume Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Most facilities will follow their regular weekend schedules before Monday’s closure. Closure and reopening details for campus facilities are listed on the second slide.

Before we were Bulldogs, our teams were known as the Gladiators. (Yes, really.)

The name changed in 1924, one year after a brindle American bulldog named Duke began appearing around campus. Southwestern’s mascot history later brought Brandy Snifter, the 600-pound fiberglass Bulldog near Milam Stadium and the return of Duke’s name in 2007.

More than a century later, we’re still proud to be Bulldogs.

SWOSU HIM alumni, we’d love to welcome you back to campus! 🎉

The Health Information Management Program’s 50th anniversary reunion is on Friday, Sept. 18, from 1 to 4 p.m. Former and current students can reconnect with classmates and faculty, hear memories from Marion Prichard and Faye Henson and see how the program has grown. Registration is open through Sept. 9.

Congratulations to SWOSU Professor Dr. Todd Wiggen! 👏

He has received the 2026 Susan R. Komives Collaborative Leadership Award, a national honor presented every two years to an educator whose work improves leadership programs and student experiences across institutions.

Dr. Wiggen has helped expand leadership education at SWOSU, improve Oklahoma’s statewide Reach Higher program and create new opportunities for students and fellow faculty members. We’re proud to have his experience, leadership and care for students in our Department of Business! 💙

The bell tower at the center of SWOSU’s new 125th anniversary logo once stood atop SWOSU’s first campus building.

The Main Building, later known as the Administration Building, remained a familiar part of the Hilltop until it was destroyed by fire in 1939. Its bell tower remains one of the university’s most recognizable early images. Now, it connects the anniversary identity to Southwestern’s beginnings and the generations who came before us.

SWOSU has spent 125 years on the Hilltop, and our new university-wide anniversary campaign begins today!

Generations of Bulldogs have shaped Southwestern since 1901. Our new anniversary website brings together stories from that history, the meaning behind the new 125th anniversary identity and information about commemorative merchandise coming later this month.

Oklahoma is investing $500,000 in SWOSU’s Registered Teacher Apprenticeship Pathway!

Our Department of Education faculty built the program to give working paraprofessionals a practical route to traditional education degrees and full teacher certification. Apprentices can remain employed in their school districts while completing their SWOSU coursework and gaining classroom experience.

We’re so proud of the work our faculty have done to build a pathway that supports working students and prepares more teachers for Oklahoma classrooms. 💙
