Parker County Soil and Water Conservation District #558

Parker County Soil and Water Conservation District #558 We are a political subdivision of the State of Texas. A true grass-roots organization dedicated to soil and water conservation.

THE PARKER COUNTY SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT #558, a political subdivision of the State of Texas, is located at 604 North Main, Suite 100 in Weatherford. A true grass-roots organization dedicated to soil and water conservation, the District has been in the business of helping farmers and ranchers since 1941, first as Hood - Parker Soil Conservation District and now as Parker County Soil

and Water Conservation District. The Parker County SWCD does not have taxing authority and still functions as a grass-roots volunteer group made up of agricultural landowners from different parts of the county who own land in the zone they represent and are actively engaged in farming or ranching. The District's purpose today is the same as it was in 1941, "to instill in the minds of local people that it is their responsibility to practice soil and water conservation, to bring about widespread understanding of the need for conservation, and to form a united front to combat soil erosion." The District strives to accomplish these goals through cost-share assistance, education, and example. When people work together in cooperation for the benefit of all, then real accomplishments may be gained for soil conservation.
