Saturday, June 20th - The Gateway to the Smokies and Mighty Four Miler kicks off around 7:30 am on Commerce Street in Waynesville. These races will impact traffic throughout town until approximately 11 am. Areas from downtown to Hazelwood will see runners - please be aware and use caution as you drive in these areas.

B Shift’s turn at animal rescue! This little fellow, River, chased a skunk into 200 foot storm drain. We were able to locate him with the Town Water Department’s, (who was installing a water tap just up the street) line camera. When we dug down to where he was, he decided the noise was too much and worked his way out, no worse the wear!

Waynesville firefighters made a different kind of rescue last week.

🐾🚒 D Shift to the rescue! 🚒🐾

Today, our D Shift crew answered a different kind of emergency call — rescuing several tiny kittens trapped inside a storm water drain. Thanks to the team’s patience, teamwork, and determination, every kitten was safely brought to the surface and is now out of harm’s way. ❤️

We’re proud of our firefighters for always stepping up to help, whether it’s people or our four-legged friends. Great job, D Shift!

Planned blasting is happening today in Waynesville near Howell Mill Road. Beginning around 11 a.m. through 3 p.m., expect a total of 3 blasts spaced about 2 hours apart. Please do not call 911 to report the blasting noise unless you are experiencing an emergency.
