🧠 March is National Brain Injury Awareness Month

For many survivors of domestic violence, the begins with a strangulation assault.
Strangulation is a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) that happens when oxygen to the brain is cut off or restricted. Strangulation can lead to lasting neurological damage, even when there are no visible marks on the skin. The Institute works hard to train professionals to recognize the signs and symptoms of strangulation in adults and children.
