With Labor Day on Monday, September 7, it's a fitting time to recognize our staff districtwide for everything they do for kids and each other. Students in Mrs. Baker's class put their gratitude into words by writing thank-you notes to all of the WMS staff.

🧡They recognized the dedication, teamwork, hard work, and care our staff members show students each day, helping them feel supported, valued, and like they belong at Wayne Local Schools. Well done, students!⭐

WLS Fiscal Focus: Our Largest Investment Is People.

📈When you look at a school district budget, one thing quickly becomes clear: education is a people-centered business.

🏫Teachers, educational aides, bus drivers, custodians, secretaries, administrators, food service employees, technology staff, coaches, and many others make our schools work every day.

💲That means salaries and employee benefits represent a significant portion of our operating costs.

▶It also reflects something important about our priorities: strong schools are built on strong relationships.

⭐Our employees are not simply an expense line. They are the people who teach, support, encourage, transport, feed, coach, and care for our students.🧡

🏈Kickoff is a 8 p.m tonight, Spartans! It’s Youth Night followed by Military Appreciation Night!

Military Appreciation Night! There is a special start time for tonight's game due to weather conditions. The game will now start at 8 pm. Veteran and active duty military get in free. $8 for Adults, $7 for Students. Youth football and cheer get in free with uniform.

Today, WMS and WHS students heard from motivational speaker and mental health advocate Josh Copeland about character, resilience, self-talk, and the power of our words.⭐

Josh challenged students to think about two important questions: Who are you? And who do you want to be? He spoke candidly about mental health, overcoming challenges, making healthy choices, and creating environments where people feel included, supported, and able to grow.

One message especially worth remembering: Just because you make a mistake doesn’t mean you are a mistake.

His message reinforced the importance of being respectful, responsible, kind to others, and kind to ourselves as we work to build a school community where everyone feels like they belong.🧡

Josh’s message strongly reflected our district’s commitment to helping every student know “You Belong” and to living out what it means to be a Spartan: Respectful, Responsible, and Kind.
