Today we recognize World Environment Day, a global reminder that small actions can make a big difference when we work together to protect the place we call home.
Yesterday, we had the opportunity to celebrate a little early with our county employees during our Employee World Environmental Day event at the Paragon offices. Employees stopped by to learn more about recycling, test their knowledge, share their support, and participate in fun recycling-focused activities.
One of the best parts of the day was seeing employees take part in our selfie challenge and proudly show their support for recycling in Haywood County. We also had great conversations with several employees who learned something new — whether it was something they had been recycling incorrectly, a better way to sort certain items, or small changes they can make at work and at home to reduce waste.
That is what this event was all about: learning, improving, encouraging one another, and making recycling feel approachable and achievable.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by, participated, asked questions, shared ideas, and showed your support. Every bottle, can, cardboard box, conversation, and corrected recycling habit matters.
Together, we can continue to reduce waste, recycle right, and make a positive impact in our community.
Happy World Environment Day!
