Human trafficking does not always begin with a stranger.

Today, many traffickers also use online spaces to build trust, offer attention or support, and slowly manipulate or exploit a young person over time.

Parents and caregivers can help by staying connected, monitoring their child’s online activity, talking openly about healthy relationships, and paying attention to changes in behavior or digital interactions.

Visit dss.virginia.gov/trafficking for more information on human trafficking signs.

Did you know August 31st is International Overdose Awareness Day? Do you know how to reverse an overdose?

The Central Shenandoah Health District (CSHD) offers free NARCAN (naloxone) training around the SAW region, as well as free naloxone distribution. NARCAN is an opioid antagonist that will reverse the effects of an overdose. CSHD also offers fentanyl test strips to avoid overdoses.

You can contact them here- https://www.vdh.virginia.gov/central-shenandoah/contact-us

And remember: Under the Good Samaritan Law, you will never be charged for calling for help in the case of an overdose! Be safe, call for help. You could save a life.
