A cancer awareness garden called The Serenity Garden was built in Waynesboro VA's Ridgeview Park overlooking South River. The Garden provides a tangible special place for people to reflect on the courage, dignity, and hope of those who have overcome this disease and those who have fought it. It w

ill be a place to celebrate the end of treatments and a place to bring awareness to the continuing efforts to cure cancer. This Garden is on an approximately one acre knoll at the entrance to Ridgeview Park off Northgate Avenue. A walkway will lead you through an array of low growing shrubs, brightly colored flowers, all full of green leaves in the summer and beautiful color in the fall. Special benches line the walkways and are also placed throughout the Garden for your convenience. "The People�s Bell" that can be rung three times to say "My treatments are done, my course is run and I am on my way" will be available for people to use. A special walkway will lead to South River for people who want to sit and listen to the quiet ripple of the flowing water. Numerous plaques displayed in and around the Garden will explain the deep commitment from businesses, organizations, and individuals who believe in the fight against cancer. Twice a year, in the Spring and Fall, a brick dedication service will be held to recognize the contribution of bricks since the last dedication. All persons who provide bricks will receive a special invitation to attend this ceremony.

The Serenity Garden is a collaboration between the City of Waynesboro and the Serenity Garden Foundation. It is located at 500 Northgate Avenue, Waynesboro, in Ridgeview Park. It is a place of meditation and memory, and is open all day to any who wish to visit.

With the advent of Spring and the bursting of colors, this is a great time to visit The Serenity Garden, 500 Northgate Street, Waynesboro, in the Ridgeview Park. Here we offer a place to make a lasting memorial to your loved ones by purchasing an engraved brick to be added to the plaza. The next dedication is Sunday, June 1, at 2:00 p.m. and the deadline to place orders is April 15, 2025. The garden is also a good space to find some quietness, to relax, rest, read on one of the many benches.

Welcome to 2025! Did you lose a loved one in 2024? Do you want to find a way to honor their memory or others? The Serenity Garden provides a place to do just that in the form of engraved bricks placed in our plaza with the name of your beloved. The Spring 2025 dedication will be Sunday, June 1, 2025. Now is a great time to visit the Garden to see for yourself and to visit our website, www.TheSerenityGarden.org where you can place your order. The deadline for new orders is April 15, 2025.
It is located in Ridgeview Park, 500 Northgate Street, behind Westwood Hills Elementary School.

We welcome several new additions to our brick plaza and the family and friends and community that celebrates their lives.
The Garden Bell will ring for each name and a moment of silence.
You are welcome to bring a folding chair.
The best parking is behind Westwood Hills Elementary School.
In another article, it was mistakenly mentioned there was to be a recognition of our 16th year, but that was premature.
