A small but intrepid crew of Berkeley Glenn (for the moment) 5th grade students participated in yesterday’s Grad Ride on neighborhood streets and the Greenway. I’m pleased to report that all returned unscathed, happy, and better for the experience. Thank you to Mr. S for partnering with me to make this possible. This concludes the Grad Ride portion of our program for the 2025-26 school year.

Wenonah Elementary School held its "Grad Ride" yesterday (5.3 miles!), where 14 eager 5th graders celebrated their last hurrah as Wenonah Wheelers before becoming Badger Bikers. Thanks to Coach Loker and all the wonderful volunteers who helped make the ride such a great success!

The celebration of Bike Month continued last Saturday at the Rotary Traffic Playground. A robust group of kids of ALL sizes, riding a variety of human-powered wheeled vehicles, enjoyed a fun-and-music filled morning. The adults had a great time, too. Thanks to Waynesboro Rotary Club for organizing this event (and providing treats and giveaways) and Jeff Fife for providing the tunes.

Reminder the Waynesboro Public Library, Waynesboro Parks and Recreation, and the Central Shenandoah Valley Office on Youth will host a Read-and-Ride event at the Traffic Playground May 21 from noon - 2:00 p.m.

Photos do not do this justice -- yesterday 24 William Perry 5th graders went on a “Grad Ride” to commemorate their passage from Panther Pedalers to Badger Bikers. They had a great time and left wanting more. An adult we passed on the Greenway shouted to us, “Whatever you’re doing, keep on doing it!” We intend to. Next up: Wenonah Elementary School on 5/12 and Berkeley Glenn Elementary School on 5/15. Thanks to the incomparable Coach Harris, fellow faculty, and other volunteers who served as ride guides.

Come join the fun and celebrate the latest additions to Waynesboro's outstanding parks! Thank you, Waynesboro Parks and Recreation! We will bring some youth-sized bikes to loan out for this event (parents will need to sign a waiver). Hope to see you there!

Join us for the grand opening of the Sunset Park Hiking & Biking Trails on Tuesday, May 12th at 6 PM. We’re teaming up with the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition (SVBC) and Waynesboro Walk and Wheel for a special launch event to officially open these new trails to the community.🌳

Come ride, explore, and enjoy the beauty of the new trails—and keep an eye out, there might even be a scavenger hunt along the trail with prizes! 👀🎉
