After a brief hiatus, we have resumed our efforts in reclaiming illegal dump sites and transporting your recyclable materials. We would like to extend our immense appreciation to our two dedicated employees who undertake this responsibility in addition to their other duties.

📣 "CELEBRATING TWO OF OUR OWN!" 🎉

It is with great pleasure we recognize and acknowledge two distinguished leaders who have played a pivotal role on our Board of Directors, driving the growth and development of the Wayne County Solid Waste Authority. With a combined 56 years of expertise, time, and energy, their volunteer contributions have been invaluable. Appointed by the Wayne County Commission, these individuals have diligently served to promote a cleaner and healthier environment for Wayne County. Among their notable achievements are submitting information to the DEP that resulted in an environmental award for Wayne County, facilitating the acquisition of our current facility by soliciting former commissioners to purchase the property for our agency's use, and collaborating with then-Mayor Junior Ramey to co-sponsor the Governor Caperton's Homecoming '96 project, which evolved into the Wayne Fall Festival. Beyond their service on our Board, these leaders have demonstrated their commitment to Wayne County's residents and businesses through involvement in various other boards, businesses, and organizations. The SWA's current stature is a testament to the initiative and foresight of these two individuals. We extend our hearfelt gratitude for their years of service and our hopes they will continue their contributions.

of your old tires this month. We have collected 187 tires from 22 individuals since 9 am this morning and WE WILL BE HERE TILL 3PM to collect your unwanted tires. 🛞🛞 🚗🏍🛵🚙🛻 KEEP 'EM COMING!!

❗️👀 🛞🛞 👀 NOTICE❗️Recently numerous tires were dropped off at several locations throughout the county. Those locations were NOT designated to accept tires therefore that action is considered illegal dumping. Be forewarned, if you are found guilty of creating or contributing to an illegal dump, whether it be tires, household trash, furniture etc., the consequences of those actions can be severe.

We offer you an alternative. You can utilize our tire collection days, to properly dispose of tires, and it will cost you nothing other than your time. In addition, for the next few months we will accept 10 tires per household monthly. Our next scheduled collection day is Monday, May 4th. Mark your calendars!
