The Radnor Township Board of Commissioners wishes to provide an important update to our residents regarding the ongoing search for our local Magisterial District Court 32-2-43.
The BoC announces that Radnor Township is no longer pursuing the acquisition of the property at 405 West Wayne Avenue.
This decision follows a thorough review of the site and vital feedback from neighbors regarding potential traffic, local infrastructure impact, neighborhood compatibility, and structural and financial considerations regarding the building. The Board remains committed to fiscal responsibility and to ensuring that civic developments properly align with the character and practical needs of our residential communities.
While the West Wayne Avenue location is no longer under consideration, the fundamental need to find a suitable home for our local court remains. Our designated court—Delaware County Magisterial District Court 32-2-43—is districted to serve Radnor Township. However, it continues to operate outside our boundaries in Newtown Square.
To foster community collaboration, the BoC will host a dedicated public informational Town Hall. The purpose of this Town Hall is to discuss the specifics of a Magisterial District Court, including:
What a District Court Is: Understanding its role as the local level of the Pennsylvania unified judicial system.
Day-to-Day Operations: Outlining the specific activities that occur at the site, which primarily deals with minor civil disputes, landlord-tenant matters, traffic citations, and preliminary proceedings.
The Importance of a Radnor Location: Explaining why it is important to bring this local resource back into Radnor Township boundaries—ensuring our residents, families, and police department have direct, accessible, and timely proximity to the justice system without traveling to neighboring townships.
The Board believes that a clear understanding of the court’s function will help to identify an ideal location.
