Join friends and neighbors in celebrating Good Neighbor Day at the Wayland Free Public Library on Saturday, September 26, from 11 AM -1 PM!

Loneliness, isolation, and disconnection are a public health crisis affecting both individuals and our society. Let's come together to make a difference! Join us on MA Good Neighbor Day to meet new friends, greet our neighbors, and strengthen the social bonds within our community.

Come to the library for a variety of neighborly activities:
-Listen to live vintage rock 'n roll by the Retro Polatin Trio from 11:30 - 12:30 PM!
-Snack on donuts and c***r
-Write kind notes to send to your friends and neighbors
-Contribute to a collaborative art project
-Bring food pantry donations (any non-perishables are welcome!)

The Library will be CLOSED Saturday, September 5th through Monday, September 7th for Labor Day Weekend

Join Ms. Haley to discuss her new book, Greta Grimsdark and the Normal New Neighbor! We'll have snacks, a Q&A, and time to get your own copy signed and personalized (if you'd like). We will also have library copies available to check out.

September is Library Card Sign-up Month.

Do you, a family member, or a neighbor not have a library card yet? There's so much to enjoy: ebooks, movies, museum discounts, and even non-traditional library items like wi-fi hotspots, a metal detector, or a carpet cleaner. Plus, new library card sign-ups during the month of September will be entered into a raffle to win a clip-on book lamp or a gift certificate to the Friends’ Book Sale.

9/9: In 1780 the colonial town of Sudbury broke up into two towns, Sudbury and East Sudbury (later renamed Wayland). That split is usually attributed to the travel barrier posed by the Sudbury River, but in truth that was not the only, or even most important, reason. It was no coincidence that the split happened in the middle of the Revolutionary War, after 142 years of unity. Led by Jane Sciacca and brought to you in partnership with Wayland250. Led by librarian Elise Katz, the Sci-Fi Book Group meets monthly via Zoom and in person. We mainly read current science fiction literature, but also revisit classics. Our selections include a wide range of science fiction, from artificial intelligence, climate fiction, robotics, space opera, hard-science fiction, and dystopian fiction, to humor!

No prior experience with science fiction is required! We welcome novices as well as serious readers of the genre.

September's book is PROJECT HAIL MARY by Andy Weir. Copies are available at the Circulation Desk.
