Today, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District remembers the men, women and children who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001, and honors the first responders who answered the call at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
Our district is honored to have managed the first phase of construction for the Flight 93 National Memorial, helping preserve the story and sacrifice of those aboard Flight 93 for generations to come. Twenty-five years later, the legacy of Sept. 11 endures. We remember those who were lost, the courage shown in the face of tragedy, and the unity and resilience that followed.
