Every year, the Waycross Okefenokee Lions Club proudly raises our nation’s flag in the City of Waycross Plant Park and Doughboy Park to honor the fallen as Memorial Day approaches.

We appreciate Waycross Middle School for inviting us to participate in today's events. Chief Tommy Cox and Officer Jessica McIntosh had the pleasure of engaging with 48 students across four sessions during our Create with a Cop painting session.

The Waycross Police Department welcomes Sarah Mercer as the newest member of our team. Sarah is a Certified Peer Specialist with Unison Behavioral Health who will work alongside our police officers in service to the community, helping connect individuals and families with support, resources, and recovery services.

The Waycross Police Department is proud to announce the promotion of Detective Kenneth Rowland to the rank of Sergeant. Sergeant Rowland received his promotion from Chief Tommy Cox at a departmental meeting. As a key member of the Special Operations Section of WPD, Sergeant Rowland has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership . Additionally, Lieutenant Jahlil Gage and Sergeant Robert Jacobs received performance awards for their outstanding efforts and bravery in apprehending an armed murder suspect. Congratulations to these exceptional officers on their well-deserved recognition. WPD is honored to have officers of their remarkable caliber!
