February 2015: The miniature train was recently proposed to run ONLY in the new, currently being designed, downtown Waxhaw Park located behind the current Barnes Park on West South Main Street. However, the Waxhaw Parks and Recreation Advisory Board voted to reject the proposal, so as of now the train will not be included in any new park design concepts. The P&RAB is proposing instead to place a 2 lane road through the property, a parking lot, a community center, trails, a dog run, and possibly some minor sport activity venues or so I have been told.
