Before & After: Railyard Park Splash Pad Cleanup

This past weekend’s storms brought significant flooding to the Railyard Park Splash Pad area, but thanks to the dedication and teamwork of our crews, the space was cleaned up and restored as quickly as possible.

A huge thank you to our Parks & Recreation team for their hard work and long hours tackling storm cleanup across the city. We also want to extend our appreciation to the Waxahachie Fire-Rescue Department, who came to our aid with fire hoses to help power wash the splash pad area. Their assistance allowed our crews to complete the cleanup much faster and focus their efforts on the many other parks impacted by the storm.

We are grateful for the partnership, teamwork, and commitment shown by everyone involved in getting our parks back in shape for the community.

⚠️ Spring Park Closure Notice - June 8, 2026 ⚠️

Spring Park at Lake Waxahachie is closed until further notice due to storm-related debris and maintenance needs resulting from recent flooding.

Large amounts of driftwood, branches, and other debris have accumulated along the shoreline, creating hazardous conditions throughout the park. Our crews are assessing the area and working to restore the park as quickly and safely as possible.

Boat Dock Park remains open at this time.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as cleanup efforts continue.

⚠️ TRAIL CLOSURE NOTICE ⚠️

Due to flooding and storm-related debris, the Waxahachie Creek Hike & Bike Trail is closed from Matthews Street (near Wags-a-Hachie Dog Park) to Lions Park until further notice.

This section of the trail has been impacted by high water, downed trees, branches, and other debris. Our crews have already begun cleanup efforts and will continue working to restore the trail as quickly and safely as possible.

The trail remains open from Wags-a-Hachie Dog Park to Getzendaner Park.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to restore the trail safely.

⚠️ Splash Pad Closure Notice - Monday, June 8 ⚠️

The Railyard Park Splash Pad will be closed for the remainder of today (Monday, June 8).

Did you know Railyard Park was intentionally built within a floodplain? The park was designed to safely flood and naturally drain after high-water events, with water flowing through the splash pad area as part of that process.

Sometimes creek overflows leave behind excessive silt, mud, and debris. When that happens, our team needs additional time to thoroughly clean and inspect the area before reopening it to the public.

Looking for another place to cool off today? These splash pads remain open until 8:00 PM:

💦 George Brown Splash Pad (209 N. Jackson St.)
💦 Matthew's Park Splash Pad (501 Harvest Grove Drive)
