Please be advised that the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center is experiencing issues with our non-emergency number or (972) 937-6060 when receiving calls from landlines only. This is NOT affecting calls to or from cell phones. This is also NOT affecting or 911 services.

Thank you for your patience as we work to resolve this issue. We have made contact with our vendor and will provide updates as we know more.

The Ellis County Sheriff’s Explorers participated in an overnight Explorer Competition in Allen, Texas. During the event, Explorers were dispatched to ten live law enforcement scenarios located throughout the city.

Out of the ten scenarios, the Ellis County Sheriff’s Explorers placed in six:

Mental Health Scenario – 2nd Place
Stolen Vehicle Scenario – 2nd Place
Active Shooter Scenario – 3rd Place
Domestic Disturbance Scenario – 3rd Place
Crime Scene Investigation – 3rd Place
911 Hang-Up Call Scenario – 2nd Place

As a result of their outstanding performance, the Ellis County Sheriff’s Explorers earned 2nd Place Overall in the competition.

We could not be more proud of these Explorers for their accomplishments, hard work, dedication, and commitment to the program. Their success is a direct reflection of the time and effort they put into developing their law enforcement skills and serving their community.

I am proud of the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office investigators who participated in Operation Soteria Shield alongside our federal, state, and local law enforcement partners. Protecting children from online predators remains a top priority, and we will continue to aggressively pursue those who exploit and victimize children.

Memorial Day is more than a holiday — it is a sacred reminder of the cost of freedom. We are forever indebted to those who gave everything so that we may live, serve, and protect our communities.

To the Gold Star families who carry the weight of that sacrifice every day — we see you, we thank you, and we will never forget.
