🛸👽 MRS. DURAN’S CLASS WAS INVADED BY ALIENS! 👽🛸

But don’t worry… they came in peace! ✌️🌎

Our alien visitors traveled all the way to Earth with one BIG question:

🤔 “What are equivalent expressions?”

Luckily, our first graders were ready for the challenge! 💪🧠

Students worked with partners to sort expressions, used linking cubes to build and prove their thinking, and had some amazing math discussions about what makes two expressions equivalent.

They discovered that expressions can look different but still have the same value! 🎯

By the end of their visit, the aliens had learned everything they needed to know about equivalent expressions—and they were AMAZED by our first graders’ mathematical thinking! 🤯👽✨

The aliens headed back to their planet with some serious new math knowledge. 🚀🌌

Mission accomplished, First Grade! 🛸🧠💫

We would love to make the front of our building beautiful by adding wildflowers. So we are going to have a Dunaway Wildflower Stomp. Every kid and adult will be able to pour wildflower seeds on the ground and then stomp on it. We are in need of some help with making sure the whole area is covered with flowers. We want to give a huge THANK YOU to all of our Dunaway families for your amazing support and fundraising efforts! Your participation and enthusiasm are helping make this fundraiser a success, and we truly appreciate everything you are doing to support our students and school.

We can’t believe we’ve already made it through our first month of kindergarten! Our Little Chiefs celebrated with popsicles, lots of smiles, and a fun-filled day of learning! ✨

🔎 We wrapped up our science unit by learning all about the properties of objects and showing off what we know with a fun Show & Tell! 🧸📚

From learning routines and making new friends to becoming little scientists and confident speakers, our kindergarteners have grown SO much in just one month! 💚

We are so proud of our Little Chiefs and all the hard work they’ve put in! ✨ Here’s to an amazing year ahead—we’re just getting started! 🎉🤍
