The Pike County Firefighters Association would like to thank the Department of Energy Piketon, Ohio for funding a project that provided Pike County Fire Departments with a new Encapsulator Agent replacing the more common standard firefighting foam.

This encapsulator agent excels at both fire suppression and flammable spill control while remaining 100% fluorine free, noncorrosive, nontoxic and 100% biodegradable. This agent can be used on majority of fire including vehicle fires / lithium-ion battery fires in hopes of better mitigation of the fire and in better results for all parties involved.

Pike County E.M.A Director Tim Dickerson working in conjunction with D.O.E / E.M.A personnel was able to present a project to D.O.E over the winter and the funding was allocated at the first of the year to purchase the foam.

Every fire department in Pike County now has access to this product so that they can utilize it along with their current equipment to better serve all individuals that live or travel in our community. In addition to D.O.E, the PCFFA would like to thank the Pike County Commissioners, Pike County E.M.A, and Ohio E.M.A for supporting first responders in Pike County!

Public announcement!!!

Today I have declared a state of emergency for Lawrence, Jackson, Pike, and Scioto counties following the severe weather on Friday, September 27 that caused high winds, flooding, power outages, and downed trees impacting roadways and residences. We will continue to monitor needs and help communities in Southern Ohio recover from the damage and remove large amounts of debris from the recent storm event. More: https://bit.ly/4duyDqI
