We had a great time at Prevention in the Park, a community health and safety event hosted by Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital - Milwaukee Campus.

Our chaplain team hosted a table to share about our chaplaincy program, connect with attendees about supporting the Milwaukee community, and recruit new volunteers.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to engage with the community!

🍩 Happy National Donut Day! 🍩

Today, The Salvation Army of Milwaukee County shared donuts with veterans, health care workers, police officers, firefighters, and other local heroes as a small thank-you for all they do for our community.

National Donut Day honors the Salvation Army "Donut Lassies," who served donuts to American soldiers during World War I - a tradition of service and appreciation that continues today.

Thank you to all who serve Milwaukee County every day!

Happy National Donut Day! 🍩

A big thank you to National Bakery & Deli for donating several dozen donuts that we were able to share with some of our generous donors today.

National Donut Day was established in 1938 to honor the Salvation Army “Donut Lassies,” who served donuts to American soldiers during World War I. Today, it remains a sweet reminder of service, sacrifice, and community.

What began in the trenches of World War I has become one of America’s most beloved food holidays. Established in 1938, National Donut Day honors the Salvation Army volunteers known as the “Donut Lassies,” who served fresh donuts and provided comfort to soldiers on the front lines in France during World War I.

More than a century later, The Salvation Army continues to serve those in need, helping individuals and families facing poverty, homelessness, food insecurity, and addiction across the United States.
