What a night at American Family Field! I had the honor of throwing out the first pitch in recognition of National Public Works Week — a small way to celebrate the teams who show up every single day to build and care for the roads, parks, trails, and community spaces that make life in Milwaukee run.

These professionals are the backbone of our county, and they deserve recognition not just this week, but all year long. Thank you to every member of our Public Works teams!

Oh, and of course, the Milwaukee Brewers brought home a W.

When our Highway Maintenance crews noticed a sinking catch basin on Layton Avenue in Saint Francis, they stepped in before it could become a costly hazard. Crews rebuilt the entire structure and restored the surrounding area.

This type of maintenance can prevent issues, like sinkholes, and keep our drainage systems functioning.

This National Public Works Week, let's give a shout out to the crews who keep Milwaukee County moving!

Last night, Light the Hoan illuminated the Hoan Bridge in orange and white for National Public Works Week to celebrate the incredible crews, including those in Milwaukee County, who keep our communities safe, connected, and moving.

From building, improving, and maintaining our roads and bridges to supporting emergency response, managing storm cleanup, and improving mobility for all, public works professionals are the backbone of our community.

Join us in thanking our public works teams for everything they do, this week and every week.
