At 0701hrs this morning Atwood Hose Fire Company was dispatched to the area of 161 Moosup Pond Road for a tree limb on primary power lines above the roadway.

Upon arrival of units the road was closed and Eversource was notified. We then assisted in getting a school bus and a tractor trailer unit backed down to the closest area they could turn around.

Eversouce arrived within 30 minutes and they secured the power lines and removed the tree limb. The roadway was then re-opened and units returned to service.

A reminder, treat ALL downed utility wires as live and stay clear until utility personnel can secure the lines.

Chief Duval has spent the week at the Fire-Rescue International Conference of the IAFC in Kansas City, MO. Thousands of fire chiefs from around the world attend this conference each year to participate in educational sessions, network with other officers, and check out the latest in apparatus, equipment and technology.

This afternoon Atwood Hose Fire Company participated in the Back to School Bash at the Plainfield High School. It is hard to believe the new school year is just around the corner.
