Waunakee Area EMS

We're excited to partner with our colleagues from Waunakee Police Department, Waunakee Fire Department, and Dane Volunteer Fire Department to bring a fun and friendly competition to the Waunakee area. This September, we will be hosting the Battle of the Badges Softball Tournament, featuring four teams representing each of our public safety agencies.

We are currently seeking sponsors to help make this event a success. Proceeds from the tournament will support scholarships for students pursuing careers in law enforcement, fire service, and/or emergency medical services.

As EMS week comes to a close, we want to take a moment to recognize the incredible Paramedics and Volunteers who provide compassionate, skilled, and dedicated care to our communities every single day. Whether responding to emergencies, educating the public, supporting community events, or simply being there when people need help most. Their commitment goes far beyond the ambulance.

We are proud of the team that serves Waunakee and the surrounding communities with professionalism, teamwork, and heart. Thank you to each of our members for the countless hours, sacrifices, and dedication you give to helping others. Your service truly makes a difference, and we are grateful for everything you do.

For today’s EMS Week theme, EMS for Children Day, we wanted to highlight the importance of teaching children when it is appropriate to call 911. Emergencies can happen in many different situations, and helping children understand when and how to call can build confidence and reduce fear by reminding them that when they call 911, there are people ready to help.

Do your children know the answers to these important questions?

• What is your home address?
• What is happening?
• Who needs help?
• What is your phone number?

Teaching these basics can help children feel prepared and make a big difference during an emergency.

A fun activity to go along with this conversation is printing out the coloring page shown and having them color it while learning about when and how to call 911!

Today's EMS Week theme focuses on **Safety**. With warmer temperatures on the way and Memorial Day weekend approaching, we wanted to highlight the importance of staying hydrated.

As the weather warms up, many of us spend more time outdoors enjoying activities, and we also begin to see an increase in heat-related illnesses. The human body relies on water to function properly, making hydration an important part of staying healthy and safe.

Take a look at the hydration tips below and remember: **Stay hydrated. Stay safe.**
