Waukesha County AODA Volunteer Program Celebrates 40 Years
The AODA (Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse) Volunteer Program has been an essential volunteer service to the Waukesha community. AODA volunteers regularly visit area facilities and reach out to those who are either new in recovery, or those who are considering abstinence from alcohol or drugs. They have not only shared their own experiences, but they’re also a team that consistently conveys a message of hope and strength to remove the stigma and instill a sense of stability to those living with alcohol and other drug use issues. On September 20th, County Executive Paul Farrow presented a commendation plaque to the volunteers for their service to honor four decades of invaluable contributions to the Waukesha community.

Are you interested in becoming a StrongBodies volunteer?
Extension Waukesha County is in need of interested individuals with a desire to improve both their own health and the health of others in their communities.
StrongBodies is an evidence-based program that helps adults stay strong, healthy, independent, and socially connected.
As a UW Madison Division of Extension StrongBodies volunteer, we will train and support you to provide the StrongBodies Program in your own community.
For more information, contact Jen Whitty, Extension Health & Well-being Educator at [email protected] or 262-548-7789.

Waukesha County Health and Human Services' volunteers assist with a variety of our programs. One of those programs is our Teen Court- which offers first time teen offenders the opportunity to receive a meaningful sentence from a jury of peers. This program has been having a large impact on the youth in our community since 2006 and we are proud to have volunteers be so involved in establishing and making it a continued success! https://youtu.be/NTSy_DR_qAA
