All of the housing service providers meet monthly. The continuum of care is a network of agencies who are responding to poverty and housing issues to work collaboratively.

This past week we invited the city of Waukesha mayoral candidates to discuss and dialogue about homelessness, housing, domestic violence, food, health care, aging, the relationship between government and nonprofits and funding. Thank you to Alicia Halvensleben for Waukesha visiting with us. It was a wonderful conversation.

Scott Allen was invited but had another commitment.

A story by FOX6 News Milwaukee highlighted the need for a warming center in Waukesha County during the winter months. While there is a need for a warming shelter, agencies are working together to ensure that no individual or family are out in the cold. Thank you to St. Vincent De Paul Society of Waukesha County for funding hotel rooms when the emergency shelters are at capacity. Before the extreme cold snap, Family Promise of Waukesha County, Hebron Housing Services Hope Center Inc. NAMI Southeast Wisconsin The Women's Center and St. Vincent De Paul Society of Waukesha County identified 21 additional people who did not have housing or shelter. Much of this was done by the Hebron Housing Services and NAMI street outreach teams. The response to these individuals was to divert some people by doubling them up, adding additional beds at Siena House and having the Hope Center open longer hours. It was a wonderful collaborative effort made to ensure that people had shelter.

Fortunately there were not additional families without shelter who were identified.
