Democracy in action
On Wednesday the Waukesha Forum Planning Committee hosted an event featuring 5 of the 8 candidates for the Waukesha School Board.
Each candidate put themselves in the spotlight and agreed to answer tough questions concerning current issues facing school boards here and around the country.
The questions were created and delivered by Alan Borsuk, senior fellow at Marquette University Law School and columnist for the Journal Sentinel on topics including education policy and politics.
None of the candidates knew what questions were going to asked ahead of time. Each answered Alan’s questions honestly and were respectful of each other despite having different opinions.
Discourse and debate are one of the things that allows democracy to function because it enables voters to make informed decisions before they cast their ballot.
