Road striping at Fountain Square has started today. The stripe crew started applying Yellow Thermoplastic striping in the middle lanes by Walmart and American Place. Thermoplastic paint has a durability of 3-4 years, which means less maintenance needed. The crews will be back out tomorrow morning finishing the yellow and will start applying white stripes and turn lanes.

Please use caution and watch your speed traveling through the Fountain Square area. Watch for flaggers and follow instructions that the crews instruct .

Thank you for cooperation and patience.

It looks like we'll get a break in the weather this evening so head over to Touch-A-Truck from 5–8 PM at 37 S. Genesee Street.

Kids can climb aboard trucks, explore equipment, meet the crews, and learn more about the work happening throughout Waukegan. The Waukegan Police Department, Waukegan Fire Department, and Waukegan Public Works Department will all be there!

After Touch-A-Truck, head over to Stern’s Plaza for Blues & BBQ, featuring local blues artist Low-Reen and Chicago blues artist Omar Coleman. Enjoy live music, good food, and a great night in downtown Waukegan!

We’ll see you there!

Our Waukegan Public Works team would like to thank Subway, located at 2662 Washington St. in Waukegan, for providing meals for our Public Works staff last week as they worked diligently to clear debris from the recent storm.

Gestures like this remind our team that our residents and local business community appreciate the hard work that goes into keeping Waukegan safe and clean. We are grateful for the support.

We also appreciate everyone’s patience as our crews continue working to collect the remaining storm debris.

If your storm debris has not yet been picked up, please place branches and other debris at the curb, then submit a work request at waukeganil.comcate.com or call 847-360-0944.

Pardon Our Dust! We're busy Rebuilding Waukegan!

Our FY27 Road Program is officially underway. You may have already noticed crews replacing curbs and sidewalks as they prepare streets for resurfacing.

This is just the beginning. In addition to our annual Road Program, some roads undergoing lead service line replacement will also be resurfaced as work is completed.

Please slow down, watch for workers, and use extra caution when traveling through construction areas as we continue Rebuilding Waukegan.
