As the civilian, volunteer arm of the U.S.

Located in Waukegan, Illinois, since 1967 we have served over 5,000 local boaters and transients from Great Lakes to Racine, with courtesy vessel examinations, public education classes, search and rescue, communications and camaraderie. Flotilla members and all interested, this Thursday at 7 PM is our monthly US Coast Guard auxiliary Flotilla 41-5 meeting. The boating season is upon us, the harbors are about to open, book preparation begins, as does our efforts to keep people safe alive and enjoying the nautical activities. Feel free to join us at 5:30 PM at Green Town Tavern on Genesee in Waukegan.
Meeting will commence at 7 PM sharp at our operation center, 9 S Harbor Pl, Waukegan, IL 60085 in the Curt Schumacher Education Classroom. Semper Paratus !!! 🛥️ 🛶 🚤 ⛵️

Prior to 1941, the Auxiliary was the reserve component of the U.S. Coast Guard.

In 1941, an act of Congress brought about two additional reserve forces, with the former volunteer force becoming the Auxiliary and the paid reserve force becoming the Coast Guard Reserve.

This weekend is BIG, and Saturday ya gotta see the world’s largest rubber duck: It’s Waukegan Harbor’s South Harbor 40th anniversary. Great food., family, entertainment & activities. Plenty of sponsorship booths, and water craft shows. Our Coast Guard patrol will be in action as well as our public affairs booth. GET OVER TO WAUKEGAN HARBOR ON SATURDAY. !!!

We are ‘pleased’ to report that we’ve sold out yet another Boat America Certification Course. Sold out means more responsible, informed and safe boaters on our waters. Still room for September 20th class. We are also planning fall/winter course offerings…

Boating certification classes continue at our operation center in Waukegan Harbor. A few seats remain for the Saturday, August 16 9 AM class…… check your boater’s insurance: you will probably get a discount for completing this course!
