PADS is the first point of contact for the homeless in Lake County and often the only hope for someone facing a long night in the harsh cold or blistering heat. We serve individuals, families with children, the mentally ill, and veterans regardless of their reason for being homeless by providing vital services, such as emergency shelter, permanent supportive housing, street outreach, and social services. We understand and care about improving local hardships for individuals and the Lake County community. PADS partners with Lake County businesses, houses of worship and social service agencies to fulfill our mission to help the homeless get into stable housing.

When *Michelle came to PADS in 2019, she needed a safe, warm place to stay. She worked hard, valued her independence, and wasn’t ready to accept permanent housing.

For years, PADS stayed alongside her with shelter, case management, and food assistance.

Then, in December 2025, the time was right. Michelle moved into Permanent Supportive Housing through PADS.

Today, she’s starting a new full-time job and working toward her next goals: paying her own rent, getting a vehicle, and building a future on her terms.

Her journey took time. We’re honored we could walk it with her.

When *Marcus first connected with PADS Lake County in 2025, he was struggling with substance use. He and his case manager worked together to obtain his birth certificate—an important document for accessing employment, benefits, housing, and other services. Then Marcus disappeared.

He recently reconnected with PADS and has a different story to tell.

He has been free from co***ne for about a year, is actively working his recovery steps, and has a sponsor. He found stable housing with someone providing support, is attending job interviews, and applying for SNAP benefits.

His journey isn't over, but he’s moving forward—and we’re proud to walk alongside him. Progress isn’t always a straight line. Sometimes, moving forward starts with a second chance.
