The Clerk of the Circuit Court is, by law, the official keeper of records for all judicial matters brought into the Circuit Court of Lake County.

The Clerk’s Office maintains offices in Mundelein, Park City, Round Lake, Vernon Hills and Waukegan. The Clerk’s Office serves approximately 710,000 in population, 40 judges. Lake County Office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court

We want to bring your attention to a recent security alert issued by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) regarding a text message "smishing" scam.
Scammers are currently sending deceptive text messages claiming that recipients owe money for traffic tickets, tolls, or other fines. Please be aware that these are not legitimate messages from IDOT.

What you should know:

• The Goal: These messages are designed to trick people into revealing personal information or clicking links that install harmful software on phones or computers.
• The Advice: Do not click on any links or provide any information if you receive a suspicious text regarding unpaid fines or tolls.
• Reporting: If you receive one of these messages, you can report it to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) or the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3).

The Circuit Court of Cook County is warning the public of a fraudulent "Hearing Notice" claiming to require payment for unpaid parking charges via a QR code.
Please be advised:

• Do not scan the QR code or provide any personal information.
• The Court does not demand payments through unsolicited QR codes or threaten arrest in this manner.
• Official case details and payment options are only available through the Clerk’s official website.

If you receive this notice, please report it to local law enforcement or the Illinois Attorney General’s Office.
