We are excited and honored that we get to be a part of the 2026 International Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners - IACME Annual Conference. It has been a great week of learning and networking. This morning we, along with our partners from Missing Pieces, will be presenting the Lake County Coroner’s Office and Missing Pieces grief referral model to Coroner’s, Medical Examiners, and MDI professionals from across the country and around the world! 🌎 🌍🌏 “From Investigation to Support: Grief Navigation in Practice.”

Last month we welcomed the newest member of the Lake County Coroner's Office family. Deputy Coroner Julia Schwertner was sworn in and brought us to full staff. Julia comes to the Lake County Coroner's Office from Port Clinton, Ohio, where she was a lead investigator at the Ottawa County Coroner's Office. We are excited to add Julia, and her education and experience, to our team!

Behind every report, every perfectly timed reminder, and every “how did this get fixed/done so fast?” moment… you’ll find them quietly making it all happen. They keep things running smoothly, keep us organized, and somehow manage to do it all with professionalism, compassion and patience.

Alexa and Karina, your hard work does not go unnoticed. We appreciate your dedication, your attention to detail, and your ability to keep everything, and everyone, on track.
