At tonight's Village Board meeting, Mayor Sode formally appointed the Village's new Chief of Police John Combs, who has served the Wauconda Police Department for 27 years, most recently serving as Deputy Chief.

The Village of Wauconda is also pleased to announce promotions in the Deputy Chief, Commander and Sergeant ranks.

🎉 After ten and a half years of dedicated service to the Village of Wauconda, Chief Wermes has announced his retirement from the Wauconda Police Department.

👮‍♂️ Throughout his tenure, Chief Wermes has led the department with professionalism, integrity, and a strong commitment to public safety. Under his leadership, the department continued to strengthen relationships within the community while supporting the men and women who serve our residents each day.

🏆 Chief Wermes’ impact on the department and the Village will be felt for years to come. His steady leadership, dedication to service, and investment in both the community and the department have helped shape the organization into what it is today.

💙 On behalf of the entire department and the Village of Wauconda, we thank Chief Wermes for his ten and a half years of service and wish him all the best in retirement and the next chapter ahead.

🇺🇸 Wauconda Memorial Day Parade – Tomorrow 🇺🇸

Please join us tomorrow as the community comes together to honor and remember the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.

🕙 Parade Start Time: 10:00 AM
📍 Route: The parade will begin at Wauconda High School and conclude at American Legion Post 911.

⚠️ Road Closure Notice:
Main Street and portions of Route 176 along the parade route will be temporarily closed during the event. Please plan for delays and use alternate routes if possible.

We encourage everyone to come out, show their support, and help us honor our nation’s heroes. 🇺🇸
