We joined Wauconda Middle School for Field Day! Students took part in team-building challenges that included carrying fire equipment, charged hose line advancement, and carrying classmates using a Stokes rescue basket. There was great teamwork and lots of fun while learning real-world firefighter skills. Thanks to everyone who participated and helped make the day a success! 🔥

🔥 LIVE FIRE TRAINING | STATION 3 🔥

Throughout the month of May, crews are participating in live fire training with our neighboring departments and focusing on the challenges of residential fires. These evolutions included civilian rescue scenarios and firefighter mayday rescue operations designed to sharpen our response under high-stress conditions.

Training like this strengthens our teamwork, communication, and preparedness for the real challenges faced on the fireground. Every drill helps ensure we are ready to protect our communities and each other when seconds matter most.

Companies responded for a reported vehicle fire off Erhart Rd. and located a fully involved vehicle approximately 1,000 feet off the roadway in a field belonging to the Lake County Forest Preserves. The fire had already started spreading into the surrounding grass and brush.

Crews had to access the scene through a nearby property and stretch long hose lays across the field to reach the vehicle while also working to stop the spreading brush fire.

During operations, firefighters were approached by two juveniles who stated they had been occupants of the vehicle. Both were evaluated on scene by paramedics.

The vehicle was a total loss and approximately 3.5 acres burned before crews were able to bring the fire under control.

Thanks to Lake County IL Sheriff's Office for the 📸 and assistance on scene, along with mutual aid from Countryside Fire District and Greater Round Lake Fire District.

Over the last couple of weeks, Waste Management visited Station 1 to provide specialized training for our crews on their natural gas-powered garbage trucks. This valuable opportunity allowed our team to expand their knowledge, enhance operational capabilities, and gain further experience through continued partnership and professional development.

Thank you to Waste Management for their support, expertise, and commitment to ongoing training!
