April is County Government Month, and this year we have even more reason to celebrate—Hardee County is turning 105.

**Fun fact:** Before Hardee County was established in 1921, this area was part of DeSoto County—and even earlier, residents here had to travel by wagon or horseback just to reach a county seat for basic government services. Today, we’ve gone from dirt roads and long trips into town to providing services right here at home...and even online with just a click.

To celebrate how far we’ve come, we’re inviting the community to join us for a **105th Anniversary Open House**

April 23, 2026
4:00 to 7:00 PM in the BOCC Chambers.
5:15 Ceremonial event recognition & cake cutting

This will be a come-and-go event where residents can explore historical photos and milestones, connect with Team Hardee, and enjoy a little birthday cake as we mark the occasion.

A chance to reflect on where we’ve been, appreciate where we are, and look ahead to what’s next for Hardee County.

We hope to see a strong turnout as we celebrate this milestone together.
