Poverty is not a personal failure. It is shaped by barriers to affordable housing, food, health care, child care, transportation, education and fair opportunity.

Community Bridges responds to urgent needs while advocating for the policies and systems that help families and older adults build lasting stability.

Economic dignity means more than getting through today. It means having a genuine opportunity to thrive tomorrow.

Essential services are made possible by essential people.

This Labor Day, we honor the educators, drivers, health professionals, case managers, counselors, food-service teams, advocates, facilities staff and administrative teams whose skill and care strengthen our community every day.

Worker dignity means safe and respectful workplaces, fair opportunity, and meaningful recognition for the people who keep care moving.

To workers across Santa Cruz County and beyond: thank you.

Preparedness is an act of care.

An emergency plan helps protect more than property—it protects health, dignity and continuity of care. This National Preparedness Month, take one step today: know your evacuation zone, sign up for local alerts, prepare essential medications and documents, or confirm how you will reconnect with loved ones.

When we prepare together, our whole community is safer and more resilient.

In the days since Dolly Parton’s passing, people around the world have reflected on the joy she shared, the lives she touched, and the remarkable legacy of generosity she leaves behind.

Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, more than 300 million books have reached children and families around the world. Her work showed us how one act of kindness, repeated with care and purpose, can create a lasting ripple across families, communities, and generations.

Her legacy reminds us that philanthropy is not defined by wealth. It is found in the ways we share our time, resources, compassion, and voices to help others and strengthen our communities.

In the coming weeks, we look forward to recognizing some of the generous people and partners whose support makes the work of Community Bridges possible.

Live generously. Give when you can. Help others rise. Live life like Dolly. 💚

Every new word opens a door.

During National Literacy Month, we celebrate the children, families, educators and tutors who make reading a shared source of confidence, curiosity and connection.

Through nurturing early education and youth tutoring, Community Bridges helps young learners build skills they can carry into school, relationships and the future.

Because literacy is more than learning to read—it is learning to imagine what is possible.

Celebrating 26 Years of Dedication! 💚

We’re proud to celebrate Rossy Torres, Site Supervisor at our Early Education Division Fairgrounds Center, as she marks an incredible 26 years with Community Bridges.

For more than two decades, Rossy has dedicated herself to nurturing young minds, supporting families, and helping create brighter futures for the children in our community. Her compassion, commitment, and passion for her work have made a lasting impact on countless children and families.

“My 26 years at Community Bridges have taught me that the most valuable work isn’t measured in days, but in lives transformed. Nothing fills my heart more than seeing a child smile, guiding them on their journey, knowing that each daily effort brings them closer to a better future, and being a pillar of support for the families who trust us.”

Please join us in congratulating Rossy on this remarkable milestone and thanking her for 26 years of service, heart, and dedication! 👏
