For many survivors, going to the police it's an easy choice.

Reporting sexual violence can involve answering painful questions, repeatedly describing what happened, interacting with investigators, and potentially participating in legal proceedings. And some survivors may feel conflicted or uneasy about working with police.

These are just some of the common reasons survivors share for not reporting. Learn more, including why it's important to support the choices survivors make for themselves, here: https://loom.ly/zQTosGo

Congrats to our latest Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention Training cohort! They learned how to respond to survivors with sensitivity and support, what survivors' rights are, key issues influencing sexual violence, and so much more. Now they're carrying that knowledge forward in their lives and can volunteer with us.

Thanks to all the staff shared their expertise throughout the training, especially Brittany Fry, our Director of Volunteer Services.

Stay tuned for the next session in Spring '27! You can learn more about the training and volunteer opportunities at https://loom.ly/At-SOyQ

The Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault's Moxie Awards honor people who demonstrate leadership and commitment to improving services and support for survivors . We jumped at the chance to nominate Ford County State’s Attorney Andrew Killian and Paralegal/Victim-Witness Coordinator Erika Kendrick for their dedication to this work. And they won!

Their acceptance speeches offer a glimpse into their commitment and approach that make them such valued partners in supporting survivors. Congratulations to Andrew and Erika on this well-deserved recognition!
