Today marks the conclusion of a significant chapter in my life, during which I dedicated 21 years of service to the taxpayers of the Town of Dix. I would like to extend my gratitude to all my constituents who supported me throughout my career, including my 10 years as a councilman and 11 years as highway superintendent. I appreciate the hard work and dedication of the highway workers who collaborated with me on various shared service projects, and I'm grateful for their contributions to our town. To the highway crew, I offer my sincere thanks for embracing me as one of their own and assisting me in achieving my objectives from the outset. As I move forward, I'm excited to embark on a new career opportunity that arose from my accomplishments at the highway department.

Public service announcement: On Wednesday, May 20th, at 7am, the town highway department will begin a road project on Baker Hill from Hedden Road to County Route 16. Thank you for all travelers' patience while we undertake our road projects.

In collaboration with Norfolk Southern Railroad on shared services today, I communicated our concerns regarding the Cooley Road water issue to them and, following eight days of scheduling challenges, we successfully resolved the matter. I would like to extend my gratitude to all residents of the Town of Dix who may have been impacted.

Proposed 2026 road projects to be voted on by the town board under NYS Highway Law 284 Agreement.

284 Agreement, or "Agreement for the Expenditure of Highway Moneys" in New York State, is a mandatory annual document authorized under Highway Law § 284. It serves as a contract between the Town Board and the Highway Superintendent to plan and approve spending on repairs, improvements, and maintenance of town highways, bridges, and culverts. This document can be changed at anytime making it a living document that can be modified throughout the year.

Public Service Announcement: Cooley Road is closed at Keith Swarthout and Bob Cady residence due to water overflowing onto the road. We apologize for this necessary closure, which was prompted by a culvert pipe under the train tracks becoming clogged with debris, thereby obstructing water flow for drainage.

Tonight's storm produced significant amounts of water in a short time, truly testing the strengths and weaknesses of a highway department. We fared relatively well.

03/24/2026

PSA: A beaver-plugged culvert pipe has caused water to rise and overflow onto Cooley Road since the weekend. Following a two-day effort by the highway crew, the issue was resolved this morning, and water levels are expected to slowly recede. We went from a trickle to gallons.
