ATTENTION VILLAGE OF WATKINS GLEN RESIDENCE. WGFD along with other fire departments and law enforcement will be doing a parade today Tuesday August 11th at around 430pm from Decatur and Fairgrounds Lane to 4th street to Clute Park. This is for Camp Star kids. There is no major emergency going on in the Village. If your around bring your kids out to Decatur street or 4th Street and enjoy the fire Trucks

On Sunday May 24th 2026 at around 2:06 AM WGFD and automatic second alarm assignments were dispatched to 211 North Franklin Street in the Village of Watkins Glen for reported structure fire. Car 19-2 was first to call enroute and requested LE to respond to confirm building was evacuated. Car 19-1 requested Horseheads Fire and Town & Country on standby for possible move-up with there ladder trucks. Car 19-1 arrived on scene and assumed WGFD Command reporting fire on 3rd Floor all occupants from building evacuated. WGFD Engine 33 Arrived on scene 2:09 AM taking the hydrant at 3rd and Franklin. Engine deployed an 1 3/4 attack to the 3rd floor. Second alarm assignments arrived on scene and crews were sent to the roof, and both north and south structures to check for fire extension. Fire was out and in overhaul at 2:25 AM. Fire was contained to the 3rd floor apartment with water damage to 2nd and 1st floor. All occupants and pets made it out of the structure without issues. Schuyler County Investigation Team and Code Enforcement were called to the scene. Cause of the fire is still under investigation. WGFD thanks all its mutual aid for a job well done.

On Thursday May 14th WGFD, CEMS Ambulance, Watkins Glen Village PD, and Schuyler County Sheriff conducted a Mock Accident involving the Students from WGHS showing them the results of DWI Driving

On Wednesday April 29th 2026 at around 1:15pm WGFD and automatic second alarm assignment was dispatched to 107 North Glen Avenue in the Village of Watkins Glen for a reported structure fire. Upon dispatch the 911 Center utilizing Prepared Live was able to get a live feed from the caller showing smoke conditions coming from the basement. All occupants were out of the house upon dispatch with possibility of 2 cats still inside. WGFD Engine 33 arrived on scene with a full crew and deployed a 1 3/4 attack line with water on fire within 7 minutes from time of dispatch. Fire was contained to the basement. Second alarm assignment units arrived on scene and assisted with overhaul. All units were clear and back in service by 4pm. Schuyler County Investigation Team took over the scene. Cause is still under investigation.
