SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS | Congratulations to our 2026 scholarship recipients!

McKenzie Electric Cooperative is proud to support local students as they continue their education in the fall. This year, MEC received 21 applications for McKenzie Electric scholarships and five applications for the Basin Electric Power Cooperative scholarship.

McKenzie Electric had a great time participating in Touch-a-Truck on Friday!

It was a fun opportunity for kids to get an up-close look at the equipment used in different types of work throughout the community. We enjoyed visiting with everyone who stopped by, answering questions and sharing more about what goes into keeping the lights on.

Thank you to the Rough Rider Center for putting it all together. We always appreciate the chance to connect with our members and be part of the communities we serve.

STORM UPDATE | McKenzie Electric crews responded to several storm-related outages following last night’s storms. Overall, our system held up well, and service has been restored to the majority of impacted members.

Outages impacted roughly 323 meters across our service area. Crews are continuing to address a few remaining damage reports and cleanup areas today.

We appreciate our members’ patience and our crews’ hard work as they continue checking the system and making repairs where needed.

POTENTIAL STORMS 6/7 | Severe thunderstorms are possible late this afternoon through this evening. The National Weather Service says storms could bring large hail, damaging winds and isolated tornadoes.

Should outages occur, McKenzie Electric crews are prepared to respond and restore power as safely and efficiently as possible.

Scattered to numerous severe storms are possible late this afternoon through this evening across most of western and central North Dakota. The main hazards will be 2 inch diameter hail, damaging winds up to 70 mph, and a possible tornado. Be sure to have multiple ways to receive warnings.

Thank you to everyone who came out for McKenzie Electric Cooperative’s 81st Annual Meeting.

This year’s Annual Meeting brought a record turnout, and we are grateful to everyone who took the time to spend the evening with us. It was a great night of visiting with members, sharing updates from the co-op and talking about what’s ahead for MEC.

We also want to thank everyone who helped make the night possible: our local 4-H groups for serving the meal, Bikers and the Bandit Band for the entertainment, McKenzie County Ag Expo for hosting us, Miss North Dakota Kennedy DeLap for joining us, Chris Kubal for bringing the petting zoo and Whitney Wold Photography for capturing the evening.
