POTENTIAL SEVERE WEATHER 8/30 | Severe thunderstorms are possible across western and central North Dakota this afternoon through this evening.

Storms may bring strong winds, large hail and the potential for isolated tornadoes. Please stay weather aware and have multiple ways to receive watches and warnings.

Confidence continues to increase that severe thunderstorms may impact western and central North Dakota this afternoon through this evening. Scattered severe thunderstorms (a level 2 out of 5 threat) are now possible over most of western and central North Dakota this afternoon through this evening. Damaging winds to 75 mph will be the main hazard with these storms. Hail to the size of golf balls is also possible, and an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out.

Why do we do line inspections?

Line inspections give our crews a closer look at the poles and equipment throughout MEC’s system. They help identify maintenance needs and allow us to address small issues before they become larger problems.

Crews document the condition of the line and any work that may be needed. That information helps MEC plan maintenance and keep system records up to date.

Thank you to the landowners who work with our crews and allow access to their property during inspections. Your cooperation helps us keep the system safe and reliable for everyone!

Take a look at the newest addition to McKenzie Electric’s system: our new mobile substation.

Unlike a permanent substation that serves one location, this unit can be moved throughout our service territory to provide temporary support where it is needed. It can help carry electric load while crews work toward a permanent solution, giving MEC another tool to help reduce outage impacts and support reliable service for members.
